Seth and Jess Quant have been serving in Tokyo with the PAZ International team for more than 7 years. Seth has been ministering with the local church in Tokyo, Japan for more than 11 years. Inspired by Jesus’ teaching that “the harvest is plentiful,” they are passionately serving in a field overflowing with people waiting to find hope in Christ.

Japan, the second largest unreached people group in the world, is on its way to accepting life in Jesus. The Quants are believing for a coordinated movement of Holy Spirit empowered, Bible-believing, and theologically faithful churches to see 90% of Japan saved by 2050. In this time frame, they also pray 45 million believers are discipled by a Bible-focused, Holy Spirit saturated network of PAZ Churches in Japan.
Seth’s American and Jess’ Malaysian/Australian upbringings are significant advantages while serving the Tokyo East community. Having both reached conversational level fluency in Japanese, along with native level English skills, they are positioned for effective ministry in Tokyo. Seth is still studying Mandarin Chinese while Jess uses her Mandarin literacy to translate materials for Chinese Christians around the world.
Shortly after graduating from college, the Quants were each led by the Lord to teach English in Japan. Providentially, the Holy Spirit placed them in the same neighborhood as PAZ Church Noborito. In fact, Jess first discovered PAZ when Jesus inspired her non-Christian friend to walk by and recommend the church.
Their story consistently displays that there is no one and nothing God can’t use for his glory.
Christ would further lead this couple into serving actively in PAZ Noborito, getting married, and graduating from the 4 year PAZ Bible College program. In this season they dedicated their ministry to mentoring young adults, leading a family group, and spearheading media projects. This is while also becoming key members of the sound team and children’s churches. A significant portion of this church service and volunteering occurred while the Quants maintained low paying, full-time teaching positions to remain serving with PAZ in Japan.
Their road of ministry in Japan has not always been easy, but it has always been worth it. From 2018 to 2022 Seth led and volunteered with an ambitious and much needed suicide prevention outreach called Choose Life Japan. Having led and navigated its slow closure, Seth learned key aspects of leadership and trust in Jesus. While Choose Life Japan is waiting for a new leader and rebirth, the lessons learned piloting a key ministry prepared their family to pray more and lean more heavily on Jesus.
The Quant family has overcome challenges such as lean fundraising seasons, difficult working conditions in the Japanese education sector, and difficulties living as foreign immigrants. Despite these trials, they have seen in each season God is always faithful. Time would fail to recount the major and minor sustaining miracles of Jesus.
Navigating many years of sustaining faith and grace in Tokyo, the Quants are better prepared than ever to put their full effort into the Japanese harvest. Jesus has repeatedly shown himself faithful to save new believers, bring new workers, and sustain through every need in ministry.
The Quants are accountable to and supervised by leaders on the field and PAZ International’s sending team. All financial giving through PAZ International to The Quants is tax-deductible in the USA and subject to careful accounting by the PAZ administrative team. PAZ International is a a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that remains in good standing with the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability.
The Quants enter a new full-time ministry season with eyes of faith on Jesus, set on serving long term with the PAZ Tokyo East church plant. They are excited to see Jesus multiply believers in the East of Tokyo the same way they have seen multiplication in West Tokyo. They are also very excited to welcome and raise their first child in the coming years and months.
They welcome you to join them in Jesus’ work in Japan today through financial support, prayer, and encouragement. Please prayerfully consider them for financial support though Paz International on the Donate page.
