God wants his church to grow in quality, in intimacy with Him and fellowship, but also He wants it to grow in quantity, for the Bible says in 2 Peter 3:9 that He he does not want any to perish but all to come to repentance. In Galatians 4:27-28 it says, “For it is written: “Be glad, barren woman, you who never bore a child; shout for joy and cry aloud, you who were never in labor; because more are the children of the desolate woman than of her who has a husband.” Now you, brothers and sisters, like Isaac, are children of promise.” By this Paul means that all the promises that were made to Abraham and Sarah are ours, for we are the fruits of these promises, being heirs of them together with Isaac! So what are the promises that we can and should take hold of? In Isaiah 54:1-3 we see a promise that we can release our faith and take hold of it regarding the growth of our churches! And in this text we can extract 3 secrets from both qualitative and numerical growth for our churches. 1- We must be filled with Jesus “Sing, barren woman, you who never bore a child; burst into song, shout for joy, you who were never in labor;” Isaiah 54:1 Even before we see the child alive, that is, the church full, we must believe and break songs of joy. Therefore, even before we see growth, we should already thank the Lord for what’s to come! Therefore when we are full of Jesus and full of faith we will attract people! And for your church to grow on the outside, it first needs to grow on the inside, in intimacy with God! And that starts with a leadership that seeks to be ever more intimate with Jesus. 2- We have to close the back door “lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes.” Isaiah 54:2 Once we have stretched out the tent, we must secure the stakes well so as not to lose anyone! Many churches succeed in winning people to Jesus, but just as many entered, many leave through the back doors. This means that we must focus on taking good care of people, creating relationships and disciplining them, because we know that healthy sheep always give a lot of calf! 3- We have to get involved with the discipleship revolution “lengthen your cords, strengthen your stakes. For you will spread out to the right and to the left;” Isaiah 54:2-3 For there to be an expansion of the church, it is necessary to firm the stakes well, making the members of our churches develop depth in God. And this is done from discipleship! We need to generate a culture of discipleship in our churches, in which all members are accompanied and cared for deeply! These 3 secrets are very powerful! So let’s already thank God for the growth of our churches! Let’s go after the lost sheep and let’s close the back doors! And finally, let’s participate in this great discipleship revolution, in which everyone is well taken care of! And don’t forget: this is just the beginning!
